AFTER AESTHETIC BREAST REDUCTION SURGERY
The postoperative period usually passes comfortably. Pain is minimal. There may be a limitation in arm movements. A bra-like dressing is applied over the breasts, or some surgeons put the patient on a bra immediately after surgery. Usually, pipes called drains are placed in both breasts and removed within 24-72 hours. A separate dressing is placed on the nipple. The dressing is opened 2 days later and the wound is checked. The bandages are opened after 7 days. Stitches are removed after 7-10 days. The patient stays in the hospital for 1-3 days. The patient is put on a sports bra for 6 weeks and massage is recommended. There may be swelling in the early period, numbness in the nipple and purplish discoloration on the skin. These disappear spontaneously in a short time.
RETURNING TO NORMAL LIFE AFTER SURGERY;
The patient can return to work after 1 week. It is recommended to stay away from heavy sports for 3 months. Aesthetic breast reduction surgery is a surgery that generally gives good and permanent results, improves the mental health of the person and her partner, makes them more connected to life, and especially facilitates the dressing style of women. The newly shaped breast will be durable for a long time, but weight changes, pregnancy, breastfeeding and gravity can cause volume increase and sag in the breast.
RISKS OF BREAST REDUCTION SURGERY
As with any surgery, there are some risks in breast reduction surgery. Although most people who have this surgery do not have problems related to the surgery, it is important for you to know the risks. In your personal choice, it is important to know the risks of the surgery and the benefits it will bring to you. When your doctor tells you about these risks, you should discuss them one by one. Bleeding: It is a rare condition; it can be seen during or after the operation. After the surgery, the drain placed in the breasts is both to monitor whether there is bleeding and to prevent blood from collecting in the breast tissue even if just a bit. Do not take aspirin or similar drugs beginning from 10 days before the surgery since these drugs may increase bleeding tendency. Infection: It is an extremely unusual condition. Most surgeons use preventive antibiotics at the beginning of the surgery. Changes in nipple and skin sensitivity: There may be a temporary decrease in the sensitivity of these areas. Scars: Every surgical procedure heals by leaving a scar, often the quality of the scars cannot be determined in advance. In some cases, scars are not noticed, but some patients may have scars in the skin and deep tissues, and some patients may even require surgical correction or other treatments. Not satisfied with the result: You may not be satisfied with the size and shape of your breast. There is a small possibility of such. Pain: Your neck, back and shoulder pain may continue after breast reduction surgery. In rare cases, scars that occur in the skin and deep tissues of the breast may cause pain. Stiffness in the breast: Stiffness due to scarring or fat necrosis in the breast can rarely be seen. This is unpredictable. Delay in wound healing: It can be seen rarely. Some areas of the breast skin or nipple may take more time to heal completely. A frequent dressing may be required. Wound healing problems are more common in those who smoke. Asymmetry: Most women naturally have breast asymmetry. There may be differences in the shape, size and symmetry of the breast and nipple. Breast diseases: Breast disease or breast cancer can occur at any time in a person's life, regardless of the breast reduction surgery. The person should have regular breast checks, whether they have surgery or not. Breastfeeding: Some women who have had breast reduction surgery can breastfeed their children, but often this can be difficult to predict. If you want to have a child and breastfeed, you should discuss this with your surgeon before you have breast reduction surgery. Allergic reactions: Although rare, it is known that local allergy develops against the plaster, stitching materials or pomades used. Additional surgery requirement: There are many factors that affect the long-term results of breast reduction surgery. Additional surgery may be required if looseness and sagging of the breasts occur.
